Crete: Chrissi Island

Zvýraznění
An excursion to a wild, uninhabited island, where you can spend a day far away from noisy civilisation.
English, German and French guide on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Polish only on Thursdays.
Chrissi, also known as the Golden Island, is only 5 km long, 1 km wide and uninhabited. It is only 15 kilometers from Crete and its banks are surrounded by the Libyan Sea. The island has subtropical climate, so the temperature is always slightly higher than in Crete. Chrissi has beautiful beaches, gentle golden sand and crystal clear water. The island is a nature reserve. Europe's larged naturally formed cedar forest grows there. Most of the trees are about 200 years old and some are even 300 years old and reach the size of 10 meters. Cedar trees have a specific, delicate scent with soothing properties. The island is also known for its innumerable seashells, which have somehow become its showcase.
Chrissi does not have a typical tourist infrastructure such as hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops. The only buildings are: a lighthouse, a chapel and a simple tavern. And that's very good! This allows Chrissi to preserve its wildness and beauty. No wonder it has been protected by the Natura 2000 program.
What can you do on Chrissi? Absolutely nothing and that's the point :) A trip to Chrissi is mainly an escape from civilization, the hustle and bustle. In addition to sunbathing, you can walk through the cedar woods, gather shells and enjoy the wonderful views. Also, you should take a mask and a tube in case you'd want to go underwater.
A trip to the Golden Island can be a great alternative for those who want to relax on the paradise beach. Road on a comfortable coach to the port of Lerapetra takes about 1.5 hours (Malia, Stalida) and the boat trip takes 40 minutes. On the island you will spend about 5 hours.
Possible meeting points: Malia, Stali, Hersonissos, Anissaras / Analipsi, Gouves, Amoudara.
Time of meeting depending on selected spot between 7:25 - 8:45 (coming back between 19:15 - 20:25).
